Earthquake Nepalas Co Indian Subcontinent:

नेपाळसह भारतीय उपखंडालाही भूकंपाचा धक्का :
- 7.9 आणि 6.6 रिश्‍टर स्केल क्षमतेच्या दोन तीव्र भूकंपामुळे काठमांडू – नेपाळमध्ये येथून जवळच असलेल्या लामजुंगमध्ये अर्ध्या तासाच्या अंतराने झालेल्या नेपाळसह भारत, पाकिस्तान, बांगलादेश, म्यानमार आणि तिबेटच्या काही भागाला जोरदार हादरा बसला.
- या भूकंपामुळे सुमारे 1805 जणांचा मृत्यू झाल्याचे व 4718 जण जखमी असल्याचे नेपाळच्या गृह मंत्रालयाने जाहीर केले आहे.
- नेपाळमध्ये गेल्या 80 वर्षांमध्ये झालेला हा सर्वांत मोठा भूकंप आहे.
- नेपाळमध्ये नऊ मजली धरहरा टॉवर हे 19 व्या शतकात बांधलेला आणि जागतिक वारसा यादीत असलेला भूकंपाच्या धक्‍क्‍याने कोसळला.
- हा 50.5 मीटर उंचीचे टॉवर नेपाळचा कुतुबमिनार म्हणून ओळखला जातो.
- नेपाळचे तत्कालीन पंतप्रधान भीमसेन थापा यांनी 1832 मध्ये हा टॉवर बांधला. त्याला दोनशे पायऱ्या होत्या. मुघल आणि युरोपीय शैलीत बांधलेल्या या टॉवरच्या माथ्यावर शंकराची मूर्ती होती.
